Care Guide
Philodendron Monstera
$16.99
The Philodendron Monstera also known as Swiss cheese plant (Monstera adansonii or Monstera deliciosa) is a popular tropical houseplant known for its heart-shaped leaves with natural holes (fenestrations). It thrives in bright, indirect light, well-draining
soil, and high humidity, and it benefits from a moss pole for climbing to encourage larger, holey leaves. Care involves watering when the topsoil
is dry, avoiding direct sun, and providing support, as it's a climbing vine native to Central and South American rainforests.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal; avoid direct sun, which scorches leaves. Low light can result in fewer holes.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (above 50%). Use a humidifier, mist leaves, or place in a humid bathroom.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, possibly amended with perlite or orchid bark.
- Support: Provide a moss pole, trellis, or stakes for climbing to encourage larger leaves with more holes.
- Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during spring and summer; stop in fall and winter.
- Pruning: Can be pruned to maintain size and shape. Cuttings root easily in water.
